Doncaster Coroner

The coroner of the South Yorkshire towns of Doncaster and Rotherham. Apart from presiding over inquests, he also oversees judgements on treasure trove finds, historical items found in the ground by members of the public, which usually become the property of the English crown. One find was a large collection of Roman coins, dating back 1,800 years. A soldier had apparently hidden them from colleagues before leaving for another posting from which he never returned.
